Those first days with your newborn pass by so fast — I'm here to slow them down. Based in Edmonton, I photograph newborn sessions for families throughout Edmonton, Leduc, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, Devon, and Calmar. From tiny fingers and toes to those first sleepy smiles, every detail gets captured with care.
What to Expect at Your newborn Session
Newborn sessions are best booked while you're still pregnant, then scheduled within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are sleepiest and easiest to pose. Sessions are unhurried — plan for 2 to 3 hours, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and outfit changes. The studio is kept warm and calm, and safety is always the top priority.
In-studio newborn sessions offer full control over lighting, wraps, and props for classic, timeless portraits. I keep a range of neutral and soft-hued wraps, headbands, and backdrops on hand, or we can style around colours and details meaningful to your family.

Newborn safety is at the heart of everything we do. As a trained and experienced newborn photographer, I follow strict posing and handling practices to keep your baby safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the entire session — baby is never left unattended, and every pose is achieved gently, with patience and proper technique. I'm passionate about safe newborn posing, and I actually teach other photographers these very techniques, so you can feel confident your little one is in trained, careful hands. Every prop we use is part of our curated collection, included in every newborn session so you never have to bring or buy a thing.

This includes 2-3 hours of session time, guided posing workflow of candid moments with parents and their new baby. Flexible ages of newborn 5 days old to 3 months old. Images are purchased separately and collections bring 2 options. Option One: 20 Edited images with a slideshow for $1000 or Option Two: Entire Edited Gallery of 50+ and a beautiful Album for $2400 with 12 spreads.

Newborn Session FAQ'S
When should I book my newborn session?
- After your first trimester. I recommend booking while you're still pregnant, ideally in your second trimester, since newborn sessions fill up fast and I only take a limited number each month. Occasionally we can accept last minute session requests, but pre-booked clients are given priority.
How old should my baby be at the newborn session?
- The sweet spot is the first 5 to 14 days after birth, when babies are still sleepy and easy to pose. Sessions can still be beautiful later on, just with a different, more awake and alert style.
How many images does the session fee include?
- The session fee is required to book in and secure your session, but it does not include images. The session fee is the creative fee and contributes towards business expenses, luxury props and newborn items, time of your session, 14 years of Kat's creative expertise & custom session styling! Images are purchased separately.
Why does the session fee not include images?
- The session fee does not include images because we believe that you should not be locked into purchasing something you do not want. This gives you the freedom to get the entire experience with the ability to only purchase what you love. We offer stunning Italian Wall Art, Premium Cotton Rag Albums & More.
Do you offer Mini Newborn Sessions?
- No — mini sessions aren't available as a newborn session type. Instead, they can be booked as a motherhood/breastfeeding mini session (dad is welcome to join!), which doesn't include posed newborn portraits and follows standard mini session time limits. Siblings would not be included in this either. The reason is that newborns and young babies are very unpredictable and due to safety concerns we can not rush an infant. We recommend if you'd like a true newborn posed session to book a full newborn session.

Studio Location
The studio is conveniently located near the Edmonton International Airport, with parking directly in front of the entrance! One less thing to worry about. The studio offers multiple "sets" available with a bedroom, a living room and seamless paper for those high drama looks!
