I absolutely love combining mini sessions with motherhood portraits. These are amazing sessions because we can do them with baby solo while they are happy, and then top them up with the breastfeeding portion and still continue to capture the love and connection between baby and mom. These images were taken with one of my gowns, and my Edmonton Newborn Photography studio.
This session just makes my heart so happy. I love watching the interaction between mommy and baby. The baby actually couldn’t sit on his own yet, so thats why we put him in a bucket so that he didn’t fall and hurt himself. This age, and when baby can sit all on his own is the perfect age for these types of sessions. We don’t want them crawling or running away. This keeps baby happy too. Then we move on to breast feeding portraits.
Having gowns at the studio really takes the stress out of the motherhood sessions for moms. This allows moms to just show up, and if they already have hair and makeup done then we get right into it! They can choose the dresses before the session, and they will be ready for her arrival. These sessions can take anywhere from 45-60 minutes. Its all dependant on the happiness of the baby. It’s nice to have just baby at these sessions, and other siblings can stay at home with dad. Why? Because then mom’s attention isn’t divided. She can just relax and enjoy the time spent with her youngest. I love these sessions! We then get to have some extra fun and use some fancier dresses!
