Some Fun Facts About Our Family Session This Fall October 2024 Season | Edmonton Newborn And Maternity Photographer

So we managed to gather all the family together for a quick sunset session before the fall weather took a turn. My younger sisters, 16 & 18 years younger than me along with my new brother-in law and my kids, husband and parents made quite the effort to dive in front of the camera on a tripod. How did we manage to throw this session together and make it work? I’ll break it down for you 🙂

We set up a family chat on Whatsapp. My husband had already bought a shirt for family images this year so we based our colour palette off of that shirt. I went on to Pinterest and entered into the search: Navy blue, beige and brown colour palette. It gave us a bunch of beautiful colour tones that worked nicely together and we all chose different pieces of clothing from the colour palette and coordinated it all on the group chat.

It’s all about textures – Edmonton Family Photographer. We added scarves, shawls, jackets, hats & not all the guys are wearing blue jeans! This is important because you don’t want to have everyone match. This added texture and basing everything from the colour palette really brought this image together. With the tripod, I had to set up my camera on a timer and it snapped a picture every 10 seconds. This was ideal, but I feel like next time I will bring a friend to press the button because it actually is super hard to run into the frame, and then pose and be natural for 10 seconds.

My younger sisters are so sweet and beautiful and I love how this image came together. You can see my sister in the rust coloured top looks more like my mom, and my middle sister looks more like my dad. I’ve loved watching these two grow up and feel so privileged that they are the most amazing aunties to my girls.

The sun was setting at 6:40 pm, and so at this point the sun went below the trees, and we turned and faced the direction of the sunlight. It’s dreamy and beautiful and I absolutely love these results.

My husband and I ran in front of the camera while my oldest daughter snapped a shot of us. It took a few tries but she nailed it! I absolutely love this. These pictures were taken with my 135mm & Canon r5 around f2.5

Until next year! Let me know if you have any questions about this DIY Fall Session!
