I’ve known little Oliver’s parents for a long time now. When we found out they were having a baby we were very excited for them! Little Oliver was born as perfect as ever. He happened to be the first baby upon returning to work that I was able to document after the Covid-19 Shutdown in the spring.
Mommy chose my favourite colour mustard yellow for part of his session and I was very excited. Oliver looked so cute too!
So many are under the impression that newborn images should be booked AFTER the baby has been born. But by the time baby has been born, most of the photographers you might be interested in hiring are already booked! Why is that?
Newborn photographers actually request that you schedule your session once you’ve entered your second trimester. The reason being is that MOST newborn photographers only take a LIMITED amount of due dates per month.
How come? Truth be told… it does not matter how much we want babies to come on time, they usually do not! So in order to fit our newborn clients in within the first 2 weeks, we need to leave potential days open to schedule them in.
So in order to book a newborn session, its best to do your research and find a newborn photographer that meets your style. Once you find that photographer you arrange to pay a retainer or deposit. This is usually deducted from the package total. Newborn photographers then tentatively book for the babies due date!
Then as soon as baby arrives, there is no need to go rushing into finding someone that can fit you in last minute!
This also gives your newborn photographer time to prepare for your session, whether its organizing something special for your session or ordering some new props… its always a great idea to book ahead:)
